1. It pleased God, in His eternal purpose, to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, His only begotten Son, to be the Mediator between God and man, (Isa. 42:1, 1 Pet. 1:19–20, John 3:16, 1 Tim. 2:5) the Prophet, (Acts 3:22) Priest, (Heb. 5:5–6) and King (Ps. 2:6, Luke 1:33) the Head and Savior of His Church, (Eph. 5:23) the Heir of all things, (Heb. 1:2) and Judge of the world: (Acts 17:31) unto whom He did from all eternity give a people, to be His seed, (John 17:6, Ps. 22:30, Isa. 53:10) and to be by Him in time redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified. (1 Tim. 2:6, Isa. 55:4–5, 1 Cor. 1:30)[1]
From these scriptures, and many others, it pleased God in his eternal purpose, to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, His only begotten Son, to be the mediator between God and man. And that’s because He had already pre- ordained the fall of Adam & Eve, before the foundation of the world. And that necessitated a mediator between God and man. But even more beautiful and glorious is that God the Father also appointed God the Son, to be prophet, priest, King, Head and Savior of His church, Heir of all things, Judge of the world. And God also gave, from all eternity, a people to be Jesus’s seed and to be redeemed, called, justified, sanctified], and glorified by Christ!
I am blown away by the scope of the call of His Son to be the 5-fold kingly office to all nations. It’s not just to die for the world and redeem the elect of the world, but also to exercise and implement the complete authority, love, nourishing and rule of His elect, a people to groom to redeem, call, justify, sanctify and glorify. In a line, He is preparing a beautiful bride for His Son. What. Beautiful, glorious love epic story.
Conclusion
1. The overall arching purpose of God to create the world, and his precious loved humans, is to bring up a people who will love him & He will build them to be a perfect bride as it pleases him?
2. God “writes” into humanity history the greatest drama of epic love with trial and anguish to bring up the glorification of his saints & reveals the immense love of Christ, therefore? I would argue therefore, without the fall, there would not have been an opportunity to showcase the true authentic deep love of God for his people.
Isaiah 42:1 (ESV) Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.
God in pre incarnation of Christ in Isaiah already planned pre-ordained that He will bring put his Spirit upon His Son, and He (Christ) will being forth justice to the nations.
Hebrews 5:5–6 (ESV) 5 So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”; 6 as he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”
Hebrews 1:2 (ESV) 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
