A lot of people want insight, understanding, knowledge and wisdom in this world but not a lot of peole understand that the true and only sustainable good source is from the creator of knowledge, wisdom, who is God!

But getting this knowledge comes with a purpose that reflects who God is. It is incredible and very edifying to read Prov 2 this morning to discover that God can give all these to us if we long for them, shout for them, like for hidden treasure.

First, God wants us to see the value of it and work hard for it

Proverbs 2:1–5 (ESV)

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you,

² making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, ⁴ if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, ⁵ then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

Attentive to wisdom!

Incline your heart to understanding. If you want wisdom understanding, pay attention to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding. Our hearts are distracted by disordered love, unless we are captured by the wisdom of God which is the word of God, our hearts will trun to many other things in life. Facebook, twitter, Instagram, troktok to name a few prominent ones.The worse is they distract out heart and attention to things of vanity, if worse, vileness, think of pornography on internet, for instance.

 

Seek for it lie hidden treasures! Have you spent whole day looking for something precious? If you really want it, you will persist in looking for it. In fact, my own experience is I turn to reading proverbs and seek the wisdom of God like this morning. I find astonishing insightful deep knowledge, wisdom of jewels that’s refreshing tom my soul, and re-focus my mind on God our joy, strength, rock, and wisdom. May the Lord direct us in finding green pastures, place where we can settle, families be healed, relationship healed, and life purpose fulfilled as given by the Lord.

 

However, those wisdom, insight, discretion and knowledge  is not only for our wellbeing in a self gratifying way.

 

First, we have to know that God is not a stingy God an hold onto his vast wealth f wisdom and knowledge.

⁶ For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; ⁷ he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,

An important verse: For the Lord gives wisdom. That follows after:

⁵ then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

The word “For” is “because” or “as”, a transition word connecting v5 & 6.

Prov is saying that after you sought the Lord, sought the wisdom as hidden treasures, etc, then you will find it. Bceause the Lord GIVES wisdom. He doesn’t hold back. He is generous, but only after we shown our sincerely wanted it and Him! He doesn’t spoil no body.

Second, the wisdom and knowledge of God is for righteousness, justice equity and good path

⁹ Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; ¹⁰ for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

Seriously the wisdom and knowledge God gives us is not for our own consumption per se, or worse self gratification, but it must produce the righteous of God. Whatever that’s righteous before God, in line of who He is. Don’t think you will get some wisdom from God to do your own selfish deeds. But it will be righteous.

Then it will be of justice. It will being justice and equity to the community you live in, the city and the country . You ant to be conscious God is after justice. But justice doesn’t stand alone, it will go with the righteousness of God. Social justice, for the marginalized, the poor, and the widows, orphans are needy ones that God would love to show us wisdom and knowledge to help them.

Wisdom and knowledge of God is for every good path. Good and holy and God glorifying that is.

Third He gives wisdom for the upright, a shield for us who walk in integrity, and watch over his saints

⁶ For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding ⁷ he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, ⁸ guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.

Who are the recipients? His saints. His people in Christ! And the beniefits are just enormous, the blessings! To help s to walk in upright way. Shield an dprotect us form evils, as we walk in integrity. You see blessings doesn’t come, but it must come with integrity, some condition and fruit of it. And lastly, He watches over our ways.

Don’t you love it the Lord watch over us for our good?
